Why Volunteer?
Our volunteers may be covered in fur (or worse 🤣), but their hearts are happy.
Volunteering isn’t always easy. Sometimes it’s heartbreaking. But our shelter wouldn’t have been able to adopt THOUSANDS of animals with volunteers!
By dedicating your time and skills, you can help create a safe and loving environment for pets awaiting their forever homes. Each act of kindness — whether cleaning kennels, exercising dogs, socializing cats, or assisting with events — contributes to their well-being and increases their chances of finding a caring forever family.
Additionally, volunteering creates a sense of community, allowing you to connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for animal welfare. Your involvement truly makes a difference.
The shelter needs volunteers who are self-motivated, mature, sensitive, and dependable. Here are some questions to consider to make sure that volunteering is a good fit for you:
Are you over the age of 18?
Do you have consistent, reliable transportation?
Do you have the weekly availability to work at our shelter (usually 2-4 hour shifts)?
Are you willing to follow sanitation cleaning protocols?
Are you prepared for the ups and downs? Volunteering at an animal shelter has its magical moments but there will be plenty of heartbreak as well. Ask yourself how you’ll cope when you witness innocent animals recovering from abusive situations, see cats and dogs suffering and in pain, or even miss your favorite animals once they’re adopted?
Still Have Questions?

Please submit a volunteer application on the website and we will respond via email. We are fortunate to have many longtime volunteers, but we often have an opening.

Obviously, volunteers need to be reliable and consistent. Many of our volunteers help us at least once a week. But it all kind of depends on what need you’re filling. We do understand that you are giving your time and offer some flexibility.

Volunteers need to be 18 years old.

First off, we don’t always have baby animals; they kind of come in waves. And all of our volunteer roles helping make the animal more adoptable. Some socialization and play involved in this, but there are other responsibilities as well such, including socialization, grooming, and cleaning.

Some of our volunteers just help clean the cat areas and socialize cats and kittens.
